SOUTH CAROLINA FREE TIMES
"Call it two turntables and a bass trombone: Pittsburgh’s Beauty Slap bridges ivory-tower music school pedagogy and new-school laptop tweaking techniques to create some seriously funky vibes...a bold big-band brass sound, which is then mixed and manipulated by Ableton wizard Jake Berntsen into sweltering EDM."
PITTSBURGH CITY PAPER
"The band has become known in Pittsburgh for introducing funk back to its college-age following by combining it with the dance-style music that populates the charts...the group formed quickly because the musicians found something that they could all connect with in the music. The passion that they exude onstage is palpable."
PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE
"I shed my self-consciousness and allowed myself to be immersed in the toe-tappingly good beats facilitated by Mr. Berntsen and enhanced by the instrumentalists, with most songs connected in one seamless presentation...Beauty Slap’s approach made for a dynamic concert experience unlike anything I’d attended before.
